Description
1967 House Blessing by Jacob and Jane Zook, Paradise, PAA Watercolor Reproduction
These are new in package, some have the price written in pencil along the paper on top. They also have a fairly strong odor, probably the plastic. I'm sure once aired out, filled in and framed that will not be an issue.
Will be shipped either in cardboard or rolled up gently in a tube.
I do also have for sale other similar items including marriage and birth certificates.
The Pennsylvania Dutch fracturs were pen drawings. The folk artist, usually the school master or preacher, combined washes of color in traditional motifs of tulip, heart, distelfink and angel with elaborately scrolled lettering inked in with goosequill. The family prized it's latest Geburts-Schein (birth certificate). Newlyweds shyly displayed to callers their elaborately worked Trau-Schein, recording for posterity the event of their marriage. The early Hans Segen (house blessing) was a prayer asking for protection for the home and for the family. Original fracturs from teh collection of the Pennsylvania Farm Museum at Landis Valley, Penna. inspired these drawings.
