    This close-up portrait of Godmother Mary holding young Jesus is one of the best expressions of mother's love. The modern icon was inspired by the original painting of Kazan Godmother (Our Lady of Kazan or Theotokos of Kazan) created in 16th century. The beautiful foil embellished Orthodox Russian icon is set into a hand crafted wooden frame.  The frame was inspired by the old style countryside window frames of izba (traditional Russian log cabin). The villagers used the same style of wood carving to decorate the household icons that were normally located in the top left corner of the house. Quantities are very limited.
