Step 1CALIBRATE BEFORE USE
Press the mode button to choose the features you need
Use the auto calibration Scan Button on the side of the pipe detector to calibrate in the air before every scan
After a short beep sounds, calibration is completed.
Note: In stud/deep mode, put it on the wall where you want to detect to calibrate it ;In AC/Metal mode, put it in the air to calibrate it.
Step 2: MOVE ALONG THE WALL
Place the device horizontally on the wall and Move it slowly along the wall.

Step 3: LOCATE THE TARGET
Hold the device and move slowly on the wall.(if shake or lift the scanner accidentally, the device needs to be re-calibrated.)
While moving the beam finder, you would find the signal bar shown on the LCD screen will change accordingly.
Step 4: LOCATE THE CENTER
When the signal bar is full and the beep is loudest, it means you find the center of target.

Stud Scan Detection
features 3 scanning modes.
Deep Scan Mode could scan through 2 layers of drywall up to 1.5 in. (38 mm) deep, which is with higher sensitivity and should be used when extra layers of wallboard or paneling are existed.
To minimize false positives or finding other objects further behind the wall that may not be a stud, please always start your scan with StudScan Mode.
Wire Warning Detection
indicates live, unshielded AC wires up to 2 inches (51 mm) deep.
For Safety, this wall scanner always detect Live AC Wire in all modes. Whatever Mode, the AC warning Icon will flash when live, unshielded wires are detected.
Magnetic Metal Scan
When the LCD screen appears no "X", it means that a magnetic metal is detected. Tavool stud finder can detect magnetic metal up to 80mm.

Non-Magnetic Metal Scan
